Insurance Notice

Beginning July 1, 2023, all dental insurance payments for dates of service July 1 forward will be sent directly to the patient, not to us. For Delta Dental patients, this policy has been in effect since the start of the year. Patients with no active dental insurance won’t be affected at all.

Why the change?

Currently we bill insurance, insurance pays us, then we bill the patient for any remaining balance. By streamlining that process, insurance will no longer be mailing paperwork to both us and the patient. That also means fewer statements printed. It’s all part of our ongoing effort to provide efficient service and reduce paper waste.

How will this change affect you, the patient?

Following your dental appointment, you will have the choice of either paying up-front or being billed for the day’s services. If you’re billed, payment will be expected within 30 days of the statement date. We’ll bill insurance for you just as we always have, so please make sure we have your current dental insurance information, and let us know of any change to your mailing address to ensure that your insurance reimbursement makes its way to you.

If you have secondary insurance, you will be required to provide our office with a copy of the primary Explanation of Benefits (EOB) you receive; we’ll need that in order to properly bill your secondary insurance provider. A clear, legible copy of that EOB can be emailed to Scott, the office manager, or mailed to the office.

If you don’t receive your insurance reimbursement within 30 days, please contact your insurance provider and confirm that they have your current mailing address. If your provider hasn’t received a claim, or if additional information is required in order to process it, please  email Scott.

Additional note: Some insurance providers now send a credit card payment link instead of a physical check. If you receive such a payment and don’t want to pay a credit card processing fee, follow the included instructions to request that a check be mailed to you instead. That’s what we do!

Thanks for hanging in there with us through these changes. We appreciate it!
